Mike Carr Annual Karate and Grappling Tournament

The students have been training hard to put on a great tournament. The tournament is March 3rd at the Tumblebees Team Training Center, adjacent to Tumblebees main on Downwind Road.

Open to students enrolled in Mike Carr Karate programs only. This tournament is designed to be a fun, confidence-building event. All students are encouraged to attend.

Just for participating, each student will receive a karate trophy and a stripe advancement on their belt. Ribbons will be given for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place showings. Every child who does not place in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd place showings will receive a 4th place ribbon. There is no last place.

Our goal is to recognize our students and show them off to you. Every student will leave with 1 trophy and 3 ribbons. The emphasis of this tournament is not on winning, but on participation, which builds confidence for future tournaments.

Students must pre-register in order to receive a trophy. The cost of pre-registration is $52 per child (2nd child is $48). This is the only cost of participation. There is no cost to spectators. Cameras and video are welcomed.

You need only attend the times of your child's events, as described in the schedule. It will last about 1 hour. Please be 20 minutes early, we like to start on time.

Important Notes:
  • Each student must be in a Mike Carr Karate t-shirt, black karate pants and belt. G.I. tops are also fine. No shorts, sweatpants, etc will be allowed. We are always flexible on uniforms during the year, but the tournament is our school out in public. Look Your Best!!
  • Competitors, No hair barrettes, bows, chains, beads, rings, bracelets, etc will be allowed. Long hair must be secured.
  • Arrive 20 minutes early to register, we like to start on time!
  • All the events described are being practiced now, so there is no confusion at the tournament.
  • It is stressed that children participate in all three events in their age/belt class, not just their favorite one. We do not discount the cost if they choose to enter only one event.
